Crystal Lake Little League is excited to welcome players to little league style baseball in the AA Division. Please know that your son or daughter will have a fun and wonderful experience learning the game of baseball and developing their skills, building on what they have learned in the rookie and/or Minors A division, with fundamental instruction and energetic teaching as our focus. Besides building upon the skills learned in the previous levels of play, the position of pitcher is introduced at this division. While many standard baseball rules are introduced and game scores and standings are kept, this is still an instructional based division.

Recommended for First and Second Grade Players (ages 7 & 8 as of August 31)

  •  Please see the age chart in the FAQ section if you have any questions, or email us at [email protected]
  • Your child will be placed on a team after an evaluation process and a Manager draft to attempt to divide skill level evenly across all teams.
  • A continuous batting order will be used which means that a batting order including all present players will be set by the manager and the half inning will end after the defensive team records 3 outs or the batting team scores 5 runs.
  • Managers of each team will be instructed to vary the batting order at each game and rules are in place for mandatory rotations of players from infield to outfield & field to bench.
  • Players will be pitching under pitch count limits with assistance from coach pitchers when four balls have been thrown.
  • An umpire will call balls & strikes and plays in the field.
  • Batters and runners will be able to advance on bases at their own risk until the ball is controlled in the infield.
  • A new inning will not begin after a game length of one hour and 45 minutes has been reached.
  • There are up to 2 practices a week before games begin.
  • Once the games begin, there will be one or two practices per week. The time and location will be at the discretion of the manager.
  • Games will be played on Saturdays with some weeknight games totaling 12 games plus tournament games.
  • Games will be scheduled  including a single elimination end of season tournament.
  • Uniform shirts, hats, pants and socks will be provided. The league will provide helmets for each team.
  • Players will provide the own glove, little league approved bat and nonmetal cleats. Personal helmets are permitted as long as they are NOCSAE approved.
  • There is an All-Star tryout process for this division for All-Star play in July.
